Aimee Melaugh is an artist working in both Derry and Belfast, who has recently graduated from the Ulster University, Belfast with a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art Painting. At the Belfast School of Art Degree show, Aimee was selected to exhibit at the Royal Ulster Academy and has been longlisted for the RDS Visual Arts Award. The Belfast School of Art has recently acquired one of her paintings which will be displayed in the university. Aimee has also been selected to exhibit in the ArtisAnn Emerging Artists show. Aimee’s recent work presents tragic events and provokes a sense of uneasiness through the presentation of dislocated limbs and unsettling spaces. Her recent artwork captures a burst of memory, depicting a moment in time and has the potential to be viewed as a door to re-evaluate past events, inviting the viewer to be transported into a different time and space. The medium Aimee works with is oil paint, however through receiving the Belfast Print Workshop Award, she hopes to develop her practice by diversifying into print.
