Bookbinding Weekend with Raquel Amat Parra
During this two day course with Raquel, participants will learn how to create their own hard and softcover sketchbooks to use for artistic and non-artistic purposes (memory book, photo-album, notebook, sketchbook, diary…). Will be covering the fundamental of booking as well as more advanced techniques. You will learn how to work and handle the paper, what are the different types of glue and materials you can work with and how to create a variety of stitches and folds using traditional adhesive and non-adhesive techniques.
On the second day participants will learn how to create a personalised stylish portfolio traditionally used for artist for storing and transporting prints, drawings, paintings, photographs and many other artistic purposes. The portfolio will be made with two hard covers and three internal flaps with cord, ribbon ties or string in the closing covers with a beautiful selection of patterned handmade papers.
This course is aimed for artists looking to display their works, or to create original pieces to give away as presents. Participants will build their skills as they go along and will give them confidence to create bindings that suit their specific projects. If you expect a weekend of fun by creating a useful material to use for your own work this is what you are looking for. You will enjoy the excitement of working with paper in a beautiful studio environment.
