BPW is delighted to welcome acclaimed printmaker and former member Diarmuid Delargy back to Belfast to deliver this weekend course in Copperplate Etching focusing on sugar lift and aquatint. Designed for those with experience in printmaking, this is a wonderful opportunity for artists to hone their technical skills in this medium with a master printmaker.
This workshop will run each day, 10am - 5pm. Materials included in workshop price: One A4 sheet of copper (or cut equivalent), ink, proofing and printing paper. Additional copper can also be pre-ordered for the class at £10 for an A5 sheet or £20 for A4.
Diarmuid Delargy was born in Belfast in 1958. He studied at the University of Ulster and the Slade School of Fine Art in London, from which he obtained an MA in 1983. He was elected to Aosdána in 1999 and to the Royal Society of Painter/Printmakers Bankside London, in 2005. He is represented in Ireland by the Taylor Galleries, Dublin and the Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast.
Painter, sculptor and printmaker, Delargy has exhibited extensively nationally and internationally. He has received numerous bursaries and spent time working with the Artists' Union Workshop in Berlin. He has received many awards for his work including the Gold Medal at the European Large Format Print Exhibition, Dublin (1991). He completed a suite of 24 prints based on a text by Samuel Beckett (with the author’s written approval), which exhibited widely including MOMA San Francisco, Las Vegas and New York.
