Michael Doherty is a Belfast architect and artist working in a range of media.
A lot of the two dimensional work is the byproduct of observation, selection, memorising, editing, and understanding both the recorded objects themselves and how to compose and appropriately record them onto a two dimensional surface.
The 2d and the 3d continually inform one another. His current work is concerned with the representation of place.
He attends weekly life drawing and painting classes and regularly exhibits work which has been published in the RSUA journal and as a book in the 'Notations' collection.
He is a member of Visual Artists Ireland and teaches painting and drawing classes.
