Japanese Soft Cover Non Adhesive Book Arts

Join Artist and BPW member Josephine McCormick on this 4 week Course teaching how to create beautiful soft covers for your paper work

This course is perfect for learning a new flexible creative skill, in a relaxed, safe and supportive
environment. Experimenting with high quality printmaking papers, making original and beautiful
hand-made books to give away as presents or to display your work in book form.
This course will explore Japanese non-adhesive soft cover book making.
You will learn how to create four Japanese style books with a variety of stitches and folds using
traditional techniques. The Japanese book style is very flexible; you can experiment with
different fold-outs of paper with which you can display your images and text in an exciting and
original way.
You will be given step by step guidance in the making of your books and a handbook to keep for
your reference.
This course is for the complete beginner, it has a wide range of creative applications for artists
wishing to present work in book format, community arts facilitators wishing to deliver book arts,
parents interested in giving your child a practical art project or people who are interested in
under taking an enjoyable and sociable creative activity.

The course runs on four consecutive Tuesday evenings starting on Tuesday 13th October 6 - 9pm
