Cyanotype Printmaking with Flax

There's a certain enchantment that comes with immersing oneself in the world of artistry and creativity, and that's exactly what we did during a captivating Cyanotype Printing session at Belfast Print Workshop. Guided by talented artist, Josephine McCormick, this event wasn't just about crafting prints; it was about unlocking our creative potential and delving into the fascinating realm of Cyanotype.

Under Josephine's expert guidance, we delved into the intricate techniques of Cyanotype Printing. From selecting the perfect canvas to exposing it to sunlight, every step was an exploration of the magic that unfolds when imagination meets technique.

What truly set this experience apart was the inclusion of the exquisite Flax Plants, generously provided by Mallon Linen. The touch of natural elegance that these plants brought to our prints was nothing short of remarkable. As we worked with these stunning botanical specimens, our creations began to resonate with the organic beauty of the Flax Plants. This connection was made even more profound by the fact that our workshop coincided with the Linen Biennale 2023, infusing our prints with the very essence of this artistic celebration.

The collaboration between Belfast Print Workshop and Mallon Linen was a match made in artistic heaven. Their dedication to nurturing creativity and innovation within the artistic community was evident in every aspect of the workshop. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to @linenaliveni for being the driving force behind this remarkable partnership. Together, we created an experience that will remain etched in our memories and continue to inspire us on our creative journeys.

Special thanks to Rose McKiernan for sharing her photographs with us.
