Josephine McCormick

Dr Josephine McCormick is an internationally recognised printmaker. Her work embraces both traditional and hybrid printmaking methodologies. Specialising in sound embedded printmaking and etching.

McCormick has represented Northern Ireland in Athens, Chong Qing China. Ekaterinburg;Russia, Luxembourg, Melbourne, Munich, Novosibirsk, Russia and Paris.

McCormick gained a PhD in the application of digital technology within Viscosity Printmaking at UU, and gained an MA in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Art, London and Post Graduate Diploma in Bookbinding and Printmaking, Croydon College of Art, London.

McCormick has initiated several international exhibitions presented in Northern Ireland, ‘Touch’ - ‘The Vista Sans Wood Type Project’, USA, ‘Metamorphosis’ - Prints from the Atelier Counterpoint, Paris and ‘Re-Visioning Australia’, - Prints from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT)

She has presented papers on Fine Art Printmaking at several international conferences, ‘Excavating the Present; The Archaeology of Visual Residue, Fragmentation and Meaning’ Paper delivered at Impact 5, Tallinn, Estonia and she was the Print Convenor for Digital Printmaking within ‘Digital Aesthetics’, International Symposium on Electronic Art, (I.S.E.A.) Liverpool.

Her work is represented in the following collections; Chong Qing Municipal Museum, China, Civil Service, Belfast, Ekaterinburg Museum, Russia, Grosvenor Museum, Chester, Hambros Bank, London, Mitsubishi Trade Union Centre, Japan, Novosibirsk Museum, Russia, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, Ulster Museum, Belfast. Selected Private Collections: America, Finland, Germany, Greece, Japan, London and Luxembourg.
